Today I spotted a new search option on Google – “Applications”. Not sure if I’ve been blind or this is a completely new option in the “More” section.
When clicking on the new apps search filter users are taken to application listings such as this one:

So now that I’ve used it in a few cases I realise how useful this option is and wonder if this will completely replace the app store search (or app store optimisation) in the future.
One interesting thing is that the new search filter doesn’t only show apps alone. It will also display any information page found to be of key relevance to the searched app.
In the example above we see two results from download.cnet.com selected as a key match for the Budget Direct app.
